SOFTWARE MANUFACTURER

This software company came to us after realizing their existing storage setup would not be sufficient to meet their future needs. They discussed other options, including local storage attached directly to each server, although this was not sufficiently scalable for their anticipated storage needs.

We implemented Compaq MA8000 Storage Area Network (SAN) technology as the centralized storage for a 200-user network using Microsoft Exchange for email and SQL databases for development and file storage for users.

4 Windows NT servers were connected to the SAN for access to 1 Terabyte of storage. Redundancy was not implemented at the time of application, but was planned as a future upgrade, along with an upgrade to Windows 2000.

Management response was overwhelmingly positive. By implementing a SAN, we provided them with a scalable, reliable, fast, on-site storage system. Scalability was very important, as they anticipated a need to warehouse unified messaging information, as well as large amounts of data.

SOFTWARE AND DOCUMENT STORAGE PROVIDER

This provider of electronic document storage now has a stable, 12 server, 100-user network. In the beginning, however, the situation was very different.

This company came to Networks 2000 with 3 outdated servers and needing serious assistance getting their network off the ground. We started by upgrading their servers and installing a Sonicwall Pro firewall for network security. Since then, Networks 2000 has been providing system support, consulting and project implementation to this organization.

One of our biggest and most recent projects has been to implement a HP/Compaq Storage Area Network, providing them scalable storage to handle the anticipated need for increased storage and backup.

Additional projects have included:

  • Implementing a Virtual Private Network (VPN), to link a number of remote workstations and improve the accessibility of remote network management.
  • Migrating their operating system from Novell NetWare to Windows NT/2000.
  • Implementing a backup solution using a Compaq tape library for backup of all servers on the network.
  • Implementing a Cisco local director for load-balancing web servers that provides increased redundancy and performance.

We currently provide consulting and implementation support to their full time network administrator.
